Jotka Fjellstue/Team Jotka
Jotka Fjellstue is located on the Finnmark Plateau on the old travel route between Alta and Karasjok. This traditional mountain lodge still has no permanent road connection and is the first and last checkpoint for all dog teams taking part in the Finnmark Run. The people who run the mountain lodges are called 'oppsittere', a job that is often passed down through the generations. Lisa Kristensen took over from her parents and runs the place with her husband, Steinar Kristensen, which they have done since 2003.
Steinar and Lisa have extensive experience in dog sledding and have, among other things, taken part in the Finnmarkslopet several times. They have a large kennel with many dogs. In addition to Team Jotka's high-level commitment to long-distance dog sledding, they also wish to share the joy of dogs with their visiting guests.
The mountain cabin has thirty beds and the Finnmark plateau is accessible all year round. Each season offers its own unique experiences. With its scenic surroundings and the Finnmark Plateau right on the doorstep, this place is a paradise for guests, whether they are families with children or businesses. There are many experiences and activities, whatever the season, and these are tailored to each individual's wishes and needs.
«We compete at a high level in long-distance dog sledding, and our dogs' performances are world-class. To be able to achieve this, the dogs must be fed on the same level. That is why we feed our dogs VOM.»
